Ethelmae Snell Holste, age 86, was surrounded by her loving family as she was welcomed into the arms of her Savior on Saturday, September 27th, 2025. Ethelmae was born on May 19, 1939 to Edward and Margaret Grahn. In September 1958, she married Norman Snell and together they raised their three children: Randy, Sandy, and Mitch. Norman passed away in 2001 after a long health battle, and Ethelmae remarried Darrell Holste in 2007. She shared several happy years with Darrell before his passing, enjoying much their golden years up north at the cottage. Ethelmae was a great embodiment of 1 Corinthians 13. The chapter concludes with verse 13, "And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love." Ethelmae was unwavering in all three, but especially her unconditional love for her family. She demonstrated this throughout her life, from the loving and patient environment in which she raised her kids to her faithful care for Norman through his 17 years of illness. She was also the very best grandmother who never said "no," delighted in play, and encouraged imagination and creativity. Her family was her treasure - she prayed daily for each of us and cherished every card and picture. There are a lot of little things that she will be remembered for too, including her exuberant personality, her unique ability to weave together intricate stories, and how she always chose joy despite her difficult upbringing and many hardships. She will be deeply missed by her sons, Randy and Mitch, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren including Julie (Jonathon), Christine, and Zach. Her resilience and faith in God changed the trajectory of her family - her legacy will live on for generations.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, October 3rd at 11:00am with a visitation one hour prior at David Lee Funeral Home, 1220 East Wayzata Boulevard, Wayzata.
