Etta Brown Pieper (nee Bishop), of O’Fallon, MO, Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church, passed away peacefully with family and caregivers by her side on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the age of 84. Loving wife of Alfred A. Pieper; beloved daughter of the late Velma and John Bishop; devoted mother of Kerry (Michelle Orr) Pieper and Paula (Kurt) Ziegemeier; cherished grandmother of Audrey (Zack) Marshall, Jake Pieper, Maria Ziegemeier, Monica Ziegemeier, Luke Ziegemeier, and Michael Ziegemeier; step-grandmother of Aaron Ziegemeier and James Orr; treasured step-great-grandmother of Lily Marshall. She is preceded by her 3 siblings, Leroy Bishop, Larry Fay Bishop, and Jerry Ray Bishop.
Etta dedicated more than 30 years to teaching in the Fort Zumwalt School District, where she touched the lives of countless students. Etta was a woman of faith, who loved the Lord with all her heart. She found solace and strength in her spiritual journey as a devoted Member of Assumption Parish. She cherished her Bible study group at Assumption and, for 19 years, faithfully delivered communion to residents at Garden View—a tradition she joyfully continued with her grandchildren.
Born and raised in Bradford, Tennessee, Etta graduated from Bradford High School before earning her Bachelor of Arts in Education from Lambuth College in 1962. She had a love for golf and a gift for caregiving, caring deeply for her mother and other family members throughout her life.
Etta never missed an opportunity to give back to her community. Whether serving food at local festivals or lending a helping hand, she always lived a life of service. She also enjoyed decorating, and her home was always filled with special, thoughtful touches.
Etta met the love of her life, Alfred, in Memphis, TN at a social event, and together they shared 61 wonderful years of marriage. Etta was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Memorials may be made in Etta's name to Masses to Assumption Catholic Church or St. Barnabas Catholic Church St. Juan Diego Parish.
