Eugene Edward Baumann, Jr., affectionately known as Gene to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, in Quantico, MD, after a brave battle with Parkinson's with Dementia. Born on November 7, 1944, in Greenbackville, VA, Gene's life was a testament to the values of kindness, thoughtfulness, and friendliness that he embodied.
Gene's early years were spent in the town of Greenbackville, where he developed a love for the water and the outdoors. A proud 1962 graduate of Snow Hill High School, he carried the lessons and friendships from his formative years throughout his life. Gene's career was dedicated to serving the State of Maryland in the Weights and Measures section, where he was respected for his diligence and integrity.
Family was the cornerstone of Gene's life. He was a devoted son to his parents, Eugene and Frances Bundick Baumann, a devoted husband to his wife, Brenda Ennis Baumann; his loving children, Chris Baumann (Jen) of Snow Hill, MD, Cherie Baumann of Salisbury, MD; a cherished brother, Glenn Baumann (Teresa); grandchildren, Katie Baumann and her significant other, Grady, Christopher Baumann, and Maddy Baumann and her significant other, Parker; cherished Brother-in-Law, Dick Ennis (Debbie), who have been here for him and Brenda through thick and thin; nephew, Kyle Baumann (Skylar); beloved dogs, Anna, Graci, and Penny, as well as his treas-ured cat, Yo-Yo, all of who he considered his kids and a source of comfort to him.
Gene's passion for the water never waned, as he enjoyed working alongside his father, packing oysters and engaging in commercial crabbing. His connection to nature extended to his love for flowers and landscaping, a hobby that allowed him to create beauty and tranquility around his home. Gene's affinity for animals showcased his compassionate spirit, as he provided a caring and loving home for many pets throughout his life.
Those who knew Gene will remember him for his kind heart, his thoughtful gestures, and his genuine concern for their well-being. He was the kind of person who never hesitated to strike up a conversation with anyone. He deeply cherished all of his former classmates and was the last living member of the Whirlwinds band that was formed during his high school years.
As we bid farewell to Gene, we celebrate a life rich in his caring nature for everyone. His legacy will continue to flourish in the memories he has left behind and the positive impact he has had on so many. Eugene Edward Baumann, Jr. will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will forever re-main a guiding light to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Services for Gene will be held at Holloway Funeral Home in Salisbury, MD at 2:00 pm on Thurs-day, April 24th with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment will be at Salem Cemetery in Pocomoke, MD following the service.

To The Family,
I was so sorry to hear of Gene's passing. Our paths crossed because his Mother, Miss Frances, worked in my MomMom Pilchard's store. He was such a friendly person. I know he will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this most difficult time.
In Sympathy,
