Mary Lewis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holloway Funeral Home - Pocomoke City on Oct. 1, 2025.
Mary Frances Lewis, 84, of Pocomoke City passed away Sunday, September 21, 2025 at Coastal Hospice at the Lake. Born in Salisbury, MD; Mary was the daughter of the late Norwood and Amelia Fisher.
Mary was a wonderful homemaker to her husband and six children. She loved to cook and there are many precious memories of meals spent together enjoying the feasts that she would prepare. She also loved her vegetable garden, and would spend countless hours during the summer both maintaining and harvesting and particularly enjoyed shelling the bushels of butterbeans and snapping the green beans that she would pick. Mary loved listening to music, especially Hank Williams, Ernest Tubb and Merle Haggard and the gospel music of Alan Jackson and Randy Travis. Even in her later years when some of her memories had faded, if music was played she knew the lyrics and would sing along - sometimes even getting in a few dance steps. She was blessed to have the love of her children and grandchildren, who all devoted time helping to take care of her.
She is survived by her five sons, Walter Lewis IV, and his wife, Dawn, of Sandy, Utah, Kenny Lewis and his wife, Penny, Robert Lewis and his wife, Susan, all of Pocomoke City, Gary Lewis and his wife, Debbie, of New Church, and Randy Lewis and his wife, Tanya; and one daughter, Patricia "Patty" Dean and her husband, Brian, of Pocomoke City. Mary was a beloved Mom-Mom to her fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, and excited for the one great great grandchild on the way. Additionally she is survived by her brother, Jimmy Hurley, and brother in law, Frances Poole and his wife, Linda. Mary was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 51 years, Walter L. Lewis in 2009, brothers, Billy and Tommy Fisher, sisters, Anna, Ethel, and Melvin, and sister in law, Frances Hurley.
A funeral service will be held Friday, October 3, 2025 at 10am at Holloway Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street. Friends and family are invited to visit an hour prior. Interment will follow at Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery in Hurlock, MD. In honor of Mary's love for the color blue, guests are encouraged to wear blue attire.
