Rene went peacefully to be with our Lord on September 19, 2025 from complications she suffered due to a stroke.

Rene worked for the postal service for many years. Throughout her career, she worked at several locations, most recently out of Salisbury doing the rural routes in Nanticoke and Tyaskin before retiring in June of 2022.

Rene loved her friends and especially loved her family. She spent a good portion of her life being a caregiver for her brother, Michael, and later in life for her mother, Phyllis, whom she adored.

Rene is survived by her brothers, Edward Lee Smallwood (Joan), and David Michael Smallwood; paternal aunt, Vina Bailey; cousin, Karen Cooper (Lee); nephews, Bobby Smallwood (Allie) and DJ Tull (Lisa); great-niece, Savannah Smallwood; and great-nephew, Delton Dean. To cherish her memory, she also leaves her very special friends, Nancy Johnson and Sharon Brittingham; as well as her beloved dog and constant companion, Annie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow Robert "Bob" Smallwood and Phyllis Ann Parsons; paternal grandparents, Woodrow "Woody" and Goldie Smallwood; maternal grandparents, Charles and Leona Parsons; brother, Robert Dale Smallwood; nephew, Robert Dale Smallwood, Jr.; and cousin, Keith Bailey.

Following a private service for family, a celebration of life for extended family and friends will be held at a later date.

Services are in the care of Holloway Funeral Home, P.A. 501 Snow Hill Road, Salisbury, MD 21804. Please visit hollowayfh.com to share memories and express condolences to the family.
