A Memorial Service for Eugene William Harold Buckhannon, Jr, age 77, of Enid, will be 2:00 pm, Friday, August 15, 2025, at Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jim Edmison officiating. The United States Army Honors Team will provide military honors. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory.
Eugene was born October 12, 1947, in Clarksburg, WV, to Eugene and Betty Jane Buckhannon, and passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at his home in Enid.
He graduated from Parkersburg High School in Parkersburg, WV in 1966. He married Brenda Sue Shockey on June 28, 1969. He was drafted into the US Army and served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was honorably discharged on April 9, 1972, and then he and Brenda spent two months at Panama City Beach, Florida, having a vacation and getting reacquainted. After their trip ended, they went back to Parkersburg and went to work. Eugene worked at Dills Department Store and Brenda worked as a beautician. Their only daughter, Tiffany, was born February 1, 1984. He eventually went to work at Great Lakes Carbon where he retired after over 20 years. They spent their retirement traveling back to West Virginia to keep the connection with their parents, and enable their daughter to know their grandparents.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Brenda, of the home in Enid; daughter, Tiffany Abernathy, of Enid; four grandchildren, Benjamin and Bailey Jackson, of Enid, and Cooper and Parker Abernathy, of Jenks, as well as three sisters, Pamela Sue Turner, of Marietta, OH, Deborah Marcinko and husband Frank, of Monroe, NC, Dee Dee Kleman and husband Frank, of Clay, WV. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, Dale Turner.
Memorial contributions in Eugene's name may be made to Hospice Circle of Love with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.
