Dr. Eugene Louis "Gene" Gottlieb

Dr. Eugene L. Gottlieb, born August 7, 1919, in New York City, passed away at age 99 on October 11, 2018, in Sedona, Arizona. Gene earned his bachelor's, dental, and orthodontic degrees from Columbia University. He served in the Army as a dentist during World War II. As founding editor of the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics, he was a towering influence on the profession for half a century. Gene also served as president of the Tenth District Dental Society in New York; a delegate to the American Dental Association; a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics; and treasurer of the Sedona Cultural Park. A connoisseur and collector of fine and folk art, he loved to travel and was active as a skier and tennis player into his 80s. Gene is survived by his wife of 75 years, Jackie; his son, John; his daughter, Cindy Vogels (David); his grandson, Philip Vogels (Megan); and his great-granddaughter, Isabelle Vogels.
