Eugene A. Goulet, 78, of Water Street, Attleboro, a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at home after battling several types of cancer for 5 years. He was the husband of Helen (Brederson) Goulet.

Born in Central Falls, Rhode Island on February 20, 1931, Eugene was a son of the late Ernest E. and Beatrice (Lemoine) Goulet. Eugene was educated in St. Matthew’s School in Central Falls. He learned to read in a one room schoolhouse in Adamsdale, Ma. He completed his elementary education at St. Mary’s School in North Attleboro, and attended North Attleboro High School.

Eugene left school at the age of 14 to help his brother on the ice trucks at Attleboro Ice and Oil Company in Attleboro. He continued to work at the company, and became owner after purchasing the business from his brother in 1977. Eugene was still working until his recent illness. He enjoyed bowling and reading, often reading several books per week. History was a favorite subject, he read many history books and enjoyed watching the History Channel. Playing cribbage with his friends at the Blackburn Spa in Attleboro was another favorite hobby. Eugene was also very fond of his late cat Shadow.

In addition to his wife Helen, Eugene is survived by three sons: Eugene A. Goulet, Jr. and his wife Anna of Tiverton, Rhode Island, Charles Goulet and his wife Betty of South Attleboro, Ernest Goulet and his wife Mary-Ellen of Attleboro, a daughter: Jeraline Ringuette and her husband Mike of North Carolina, two brothers: Ernest Goulet of Stewart, Florida, and Edmund Goulet of North Attleboro, nine grandchildren: Nathan, Jennifer, Eugene A. III, Derek, Joshua, and Molly Goulet, Justin, Lyndsey, and Nicole Ringuette. Also survived by five great-grandchildren: Alan, Abbey, Andrew, Kaylyn, and Nolan, and his step-grandchildren: Tina, Carley, Jamie, Paul, Ryan, Eric, and Brett.

He was the grandfather of the late Jason Ringuette.
