Mr. Eugene Warren Grethen, 88, of Drexel, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022 at his residence. Eugene was born on December 17, 1933 in Palo Alto County, IA to the late Edward Grethen and Helen Doyle Grethen. He was a veteran of the U.S Navy and was previously employed as an electrician. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Gladys Grethen, two sons, Mark and Andy Grethen, stepson, Nelson Kelly, two sisters, Sonja Root and Carole Feisted, and two brothers, Edward Grethen and Norman Grethen. Survivors include a son, Daniel Grethen of Norfolk, VA, daughter, Beth Wooster and husband Michael of Clarkston, MI., and two stepdaughters, Jeanie Marlow, and Freda Buchanan and husband Ron. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Dennis Grethen of Eyota, IA,. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service. Entombment will follow at the Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
