Eugene J. Griffin passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love and support of his adoring family.
Eugene was born in January 1929 to Maurice and Mary Griffin. He was one of eleven children and grew up in Manhattan. Eugene attended Cardinal Hayes High School. Following his service in the U.S. Army in Korea, he earned his bachelor's degree from Fordham University and master's degree from Stevens Institute of Technology.
He began his career at Westinghouse and soon transitioned to M&M/Mars, where he spent the rest of his career serving in several director roles. Outside of his professional life, his devotion to his Catholic faith led Eugene to volunteer with several charitable organizations, including The Community Soup Kitchen in Morristown, New Jersey.
His intelligence and hard work were admirable, yet his dedication to his family was one of his greatest attributes. In 1955, Eugene married Patricia Dunn. Together they had five children and built a life in Morristown. Some of the things his family will remember him for are his dedication to physical fitness, his love of the Yankees, his enjoyment of classic movies, and his enthusiasm for Tony Bennett. Eugene spent countless hours showing up for his granddaughters at basketball games, swim meets, birthday parties, graduations, and more. His family will forever cherish the years he guided it.
He is survived by his loving wife of seventy years, Patricia; his children Claire (Jeffrey) Miller, Allison Griffin, Christopher Griffin, Amy (Michael) Scully; his grandchildren, Kristen, Caroline, Maura (Nate), and Sarah; as well as two brothers Timothy and James.
Eugene is predeceased by his son, Eugene, and granddaughter, Emily.
A memorial mass will take place at 10 am on Saturday, November 8th at Assumption Church, 91 Maple Ave, Morristown. Inurnment to follow at Hilltop Cemetery, 18 Hilltop Road, Mendham.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his honor to a charity supporting veterans or a charity of your choice.
