Eugene Harris Obituary

PRIVATE MEMORIAL SERVICES WILL TAKE PLACE AT A LATER DATE.
Eugene Harris, a cherished son of Hardeman County, passed away peacefully at his home in Hickory Valley on April 24, 2025, at the age of 66. He was born on March 29, 1959, and spent his entire life in his beloved county, cultivating roots that ran as deep as the ancient oaks that stood sentinel over the land he loved.
For over four decades, Eugene poured his heart and skill into his work as an appliance repairman with Wheeler Appliance. His hands, seasoned and steady, brought comfort and relief to countless families, restoring not just appliances, but also a sense of normalcy and ease to their daily lives. Friends and customers alike knew him not just as a repairman, but as a man with a rare knack for fixing just about anything that came his way-a testament to his ingenuity and relentless spirit. Mr. Harris was Baptist in faith.
Beyond his career, Eugene was a man of simple joys and fervent passions. He found delight in the thrill of collecting miniature race cars, each tiny vehicle a reflection of his enthusiasm and meticulous nature. Music filled his days and accompanied the moments he spent grilling out with family and friends, where laughter and camaraderie were served alongside every meal. His soul vibrated with the melodies that resonated from his youth, reminding all who knew him of a time when life was richly textured and beautifully lived.
Eugene is survived by his loving sisters, Carol Wright of Jackson and Tammye Harris of Murfreesboro, and his caring brothers, Jimmy Harris and Ruthie of Oakland, and Terry Harris and Gena of Dresden. They will forever carry the warmth of his presence in their hearts, recalling fond memories of shared laughter and support.
He was preceded in death by his devoted parents, James R. Harris, Sr. and Agnes Lycresia Blackwell Harris, whose love and guidance shaped the man he became. Eugene's legacy will be carried forward by those he leaves behind, woven into the fabric of their lives-a reminder of his indelible spirit and unwavering dedication to family and community.
As the sun sets on this chapter, Eugene Harris may have departed from our sight, but he will remain an enduring light in the hearts of all who came to know him. In quiet moments, when the wind whispers through the trees of Hardeman County, one can almost hear the echoes of his laughter and the soft hum of a well-loved tune, forever a part of the vibrant tapestry of life he so cherished. Memorial contributions in his name may be sent to the charity of the donor's choice.
