Gene was a devoted and faithful man who lived a life of service to his church and to anyone who was in need. His faith led him into service at the Church of the Nativity where he was Manager of the Café Ministry. He always greeted you with a smile and a hello and was always ready for a good conversation.
In usual form, on the day he passed, when asked how he was doing, he answered cheekily with "Whatta Day". He was called to rest too soon and will be missed by all those who knew him.
Friends may call on the family-owned Ruck Towson Funeral Home, Inc., located at 1050 York Rd. (beltway exit 26), on Wednesday, July 17th, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM to meet with the family and pay final respects. A Funeral Mass will be held at the Church of the Nativity, 20E. Ridgely Rd., Timonium, MD 21093, on Thursday, July 18th, 11 AM. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions may be made in Gene Hartman's name to the Church of the Nativity.

I met Gene through my small group at Nativity. He was a great fellow who had a lot of common sense and a spirit of volunteering at the church. He had a lot of energy and I relied own his advice. Jim Genthner

My first ministry at Nativity was hospitality. It was before covid and we had several social events. I was a "newbie" and while not thrilled, he was welcoming. . . when he found out I also had a hospitality background, all was good. . . I am so going to miss working with him, both because of his kindness but because of his sharing of our faith and helping me understand. . ."and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand".
