Celebration of life of Eugene George Hausladen
Eugene George Hausladen, beloved father and family man. Eugene (Gene) Hausladen, 93, passed away on October 11, 2024 in Brooksville, Florida.
He was born September 6, 1931 in New Germany, Minnesota the son of Henry Hausladen and Beatrice Janikula.
Gene grew up on his family farm in New Germany, Minnesota.
He went to college at St. Thomas in Minnesota and decided to go into the Air force. He flew in the Korean war as a bombardier and tail gunner. He was very patriotic and believed in his country. During his military service, he lived in Tampa, Florida with his first wife, Donna Richard and started his family. He went into the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical workers) as a journeyman and eventually became a Master Electrician. He was a part of the union for over 67 years.
He went home to his home in Winsted, Minnesota where he lived with his second wife Leona, until she passed away. He moved to Hudson, Florida where he resided near his daughter Cheryl's family. He retired from work but, he never stopped. Gene was always trying to figure out world problems. In the last days of his life, he was trying to get the word out about hydrogen being used as a clean alternative to energy. He was a long-standing member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the American Legion Post 407 for over 60 years. He continued to give of himself and volunteered for many things. When he returned to live in Hudson, Florida, he worked over 15,000 hours as a Volunteer at Regional Bayonet Pointe hospital. He was awarded "Volunteer of the Year" in 2023. He received many awards and accolades for his volunteer work in Minnesota and Florida.
Gene was a simple man with simple pleasures such as he was an avid fisherman. He loved to go on fishing trips with family and friends. He really enjoyed his friends and family. He was a practicing Catholic his entire life. He made an impact on people he knew and loved. He was strong and strong willed. He had a zest for life.
My father would like everyone he knew or touched in some way in his life, to know that he had a full and blessed life. He always wanted peace and harmony for all of his family and friends. He believed in service to humanity and country.
He is survived by his four daughters of a blended family: Cheryl Longenecker of Hudson, Florida, Rebecca Gies of Bellevue, Nebraska, his stepdaughters Barbara Bittner of Edina, Minnesota and Joanne Anders of Maple Grove, Minnesota. He was blessed to have had many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Marie Ziegler of Howard Lake, Minnesota and Jim Hausladen of New Germany, Minnesota. Dad was a family man and not only showed his caring for his immediate family but, for his extended family as well.
He will be laid to rest in his home town of Winsted, Minnesota next to his beloved wife, Leona.
