Eugene Markes Obituary
Born in Amsterdam, NY on September 23, 1946, a son of the late Arnold and Beatrice Nethaway Markes. He was a lifelong resident of Amsterdam and attended local schools.
Eugene worked for many years for the Gillette Carnivals traveling and setting up many fairs and carnivals throughout the area. He also worked in construction specializing in sheet rocking. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, pool and spending time with his family.
He married Shirley Jean Porath Markes on January 19, 1986. She passed away on February 1,2019. Eugene is survived by his children, Rose Porath, Eugene Jr. (Tina) Markes, Kenneth (Hope) Markes, Kandi (Susan) Sheets, Phillip (Amanda) Markes, Jesse Markes and Kenneth E. Markes (Samantha). Stepchildren, Robert Petruccione, William Petruccione, Lisa (Tommy) Petruccione and Timothy (Crista) Petruccione. 33 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive. He leaves behind his pet dog Scooby.
He is predeceased by his parents Arnold and Beatrice, his wife Shirley and his siblings, Betty, Beatrice, Margaret, Elaine, Shirley, David and Phillip.
