Eugene R. Simko, 94, formerly of West Oak Hill Road, died Tuesday March 25, 2025, in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing.
A native of Sheffield, PA., he was born January 4, 1931, a son of the late John and Elizabeth Jevszak Simko.
A 1952 graduate of Sheffield High School, Gene served in the US Army from 1955-57.
He was employed for 22 years by Art Metal, Inc, until starting his own painting business which he ran until his retirement.
He was a longtime member of Kidder Memorial Church where he had served as a trustee and on many different church committees over the years. He was also a member of Herman Kent Post 777 American Legion.
Throughout his lifetime Gene enjoyed traveling.
Surviving are three children Cheryl (Robert) Stoddard of Orchard Park, NY and Teresa Gustafson and John Simko both of Jamestown; seven grandchildren Nathan (Joy) Stoddard, Joseph (Maria) Gustafson, Angela (Travis Sample) Gustafson, Rhett Simko, Grant Simko, Kali (Brett) Rinaldo and Lanni Simko and eight great grandchildren Elijah and Sunshine Stoddard, Darius Jones, Taylor and Carter Sample and Benjamin, Stella and Jack Rinaldo.
He was preceded in death by a grandson Benjamin Stoddard, his wife Marilyn Anderson Simko, whom he married October 25, 1952, and who died March 23, 2013; a brother John Simko and a sister Martha Verga.
The funeral will be held at noon Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home where friends will be received from 11 am to noon.
Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Kidder Memorial Global Methodist Church, 381 S Main St, Jamestown, NY 14701.
