Graveside services for Eugene Gerald Striplin “Gerry” will be held on Monday, December 4, 2023 at 12:30 p.m. at the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 7970 Mike Clark Rd., Keithville, Louisiana. A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana.

Gerry was born in Shreveport to Eugene Gilbert Striplin and Merle Fomby Striplin on September 26, 1947. Gerry passed away on November 22, 2023 in Shreveport at the age of 76.

Gerry graduated from Bossier High School in 1965 and then went to Louisiana Tech. He later enlisted in the United States Navy and fought in the Vietnam War abroad the USS Rainier AE-5.

After serving in the military, Gerry worked at Pennzoil and then went to South Central Bell/Bell South where he worked until he retired 29 years later.

Gerry became a member of the Loyal Order of Moose in 1978. He received his Fellowship Degree, the Shining Star Award, Moose of the Year, and became a Pilgrim. Gerry was also a member of the APA Pool Association for 15 years, a member of the BCA/USAPL for years, the American Legion, and the Horseshoe Pitching Club.

Gerry is preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Elaine Lewis Striplin; his daughter, Heather Striplin Trammell; his two grandchildren who were the loves of his life, Kelsey Trammell Powell and husband, Connor, and Brady Trammell; his sister, Laura Striplin; two nieces; two nephews; and a great-grandbaby that he named “Peanut” that is on the way that he could not wait to meet. Gerry is also survived by his former wife and one of his best friends, Kathy Pleasant.

Gerry was a diehard LSU Tigers fan and New Orleans Saints fan. He loved traveling and visiting National Parks but he most of all loved any family time and anything he could do with his two grandchildren. He has never let his health problems over the last few years slow him down. He always had a good story to tell and could always make everyone laugh.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jonathan Davis, his PA, Marissa, Dr. Scott Boniol and staff for all their care over the years.

Honoring Gerry as pallbearers will be his grandson, Brady Trammell, Michael Ricardo, Greg Ellis, Carl Pettis, Bill Tate, Samuel Lewis, Ronnie Gillen, and Robbie Magee.

Gerry will be greatly missed but forever loved and never forgotten.

After the graveside service, everyone is invited to a reception being held at the Shreveport Moose Lodge, 9113 Industrial Loop, Shreveport, Louisiana to celebrate Gerry’s life and memory.
