Eugene S. Vannatta, 78, of Waymart passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, July 12, 2025 at Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart.

Born June 2, 1947 in Milanville, he was the son of the late Ward W. and Isabel (Card) Vannatta.

Gene was a graduate of Honesdale High School. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, Gene worked at Moore Business Forms in Honesdale, and later as a bellhop for Noble House Inc., a hotel enterprise in Florida and California. Gene was an avid golfer, cherished his time bowling and loved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers play. He loved music and was an excellent dancer. A true connector of hearts, Gene thrived in the company of others, embracing people from all walks of life with warmth and enthusiam. Often the life of the party, his vibrant spirit lit up any room, and his boundless kindness made him one of the gentlest souls to ever grace this earth. He will be cherished in loving memory, deeply missed and forever held dear in the hearts of his sons, family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice Olver Vannatta of Waymart; two sons, Scott Vannatta and his wife Linda of Jermyn, and Stephen Brandon Vannatta and his wife Daniela of Honesdale; two grandchildren: Nicholas Nolan and Ashley Vannatta; and two great-grandchildren: Caige Nolan and Ellie Nolan; and a brother, Willard "Bill" Vannatta and his wife Kathy of Florida.

Gene was also preceded in death by two sisters, Carolyn Ciccone and Gladys Stanton.
