Mrs. Eula Mai Smith

Eula Mai Smith, age 97, of Orange Park, Florida (formerly of Shelbyville, Tennessee) entered into Heaven's glory on Wednesday, January 28,, 2026, at Palagio Senior Living.

Eula Mai was a kind, compassionate woman who loved people and spread joy wherever she went. She was well loved by her family and friends. Eula Mai loved the Lord and shared her faith often. While living in Shelbyville, she was a faithful member of Shelbyville Mills Baptist Church. She loved serving others, especially with her excellent cooking skills.

She was born on May 18, 1928, to the late James Ernest and Georgia Smotherman Sudberry. She graduated from Unionville High School where she was an avid basketball player. Eula Mai married the love of her life, James Smith, is 1947. They were married 68 years.

In addition to her parents, Eula Mai was preceded in death by her husband, James, her son, Phil Smith, 3 brothers, Lum Henry Sudberry, Clyde Sudberry, and Heyward Sudberry,2 sister, Jo Ann Holland, and Mary Burrow.

Eula Mai is survived by her daughter, Wanda woods, and granddaughter, Lindsay Woods, of Jacksonville, Florida, her daughter-in-law, Anja Smith, and granddaughter, Tanya Kiesz (Kelly) of Huntsville, Alabama, and great grandson Daniel Kiesz (Layla) of Charlotte, North Carolina. She is also survived by a nephew and several nieces and their families.

A Celebration of Life will take place at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel on Tuesday, February 3, at 1:00 PM with the burial to follow at Willow Mount Cemetery. Pastor Jonathan Sims and Pastor Russ Stephens will be officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 Pm on Monday, February 2, and again from 12:00 Noon until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
