Eulice Shelley Obituary
Eulice Edward Shelley passed away at his home on July 1, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. Eulice was 93 years old. Born on October 2, 1930 in Ashford, AL to Walter and Lessie Shelley, Eulice was the middle child of four sons. Walt and Lessie lived a modest life as farmers and Eulice dropped out of school in the 6th grade to help his father with family farm work. Eulice met his wife, Wilma, as a teenager and they were married in August of 1948. Eulice and Wilma moved from Ashford to Dothan, AL to Montgomery, AL and eventually to Fort Walton Beach in 1961. They had three sons, Charles Edward, Gerald Glenn, and James Timothy. When Eulice and Wilma arrived in Fort Walton Beach, they purchased A&A Warehouse with only one truck and one employee. Together, they grew their business, signing on as an agent for National Van Lines, then Global Van Lines, and eventually Mayflower Van Lines of which A&A remains a current agent. A&A Transfer & Storage has employed hundreds of people and moved thousands to and from our area over the last 63 years. The business is a proud supporter of the military community, and Eulice was passionate about providing the best service possible to our men and women in uniform. Eulice placed the utmost importance on community. He joined the Junior Chamber early on and served as the President, then the Chamber of Commerce where he served as Vice President. He was the President of the Rotary and received the Paul Harris Fellowship Recognition. He served on the Board of Directors of National Van Lines and was the Vice President of the Board for Global Van Lines based in Annaheim, CA. Eulice was a devout Christian; in their early days in Fort Walton Beach, he and Wilma were members of Cinco Baptist Church, where Eulice served as a Deacon. They later joined First Baptist Church where they remained members all their lives. Eulice was a pillar in the community of Fort Walton Beach and a very successful businessman. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Eulice loved the Lord Jesus Christ, his wife, and his family and he is rejoicing with them in Heaven now. He will be missed by so many.
Eulice is predeceased by his parents; 2 of his brothers, Wade and Winston; his oldest son, Charles; and his loving wife.
He is survived by 2 of his sons, Glenn and Timothy; his grandchildren, Lori (Thomas) Hearn, McKenzie (Gary) Smith, Glenn Ross (Kimberlee) Shelley, Morgan (Travis) Smith, Tayler (Kathryn) Shelley-Frakes; his great grandchildren, Gracie Hearn, Grey, Marlyn, Sadie, Otis, and Oscar Smith, and Kennedy Moore, Milena; his youngest brother, Bennie Frank (Janie) and several nieces and nephews.
Services for Eulice will be held on July 15, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Fort Walton Beach. The visitation will begin at 10am, followed by the service at 11am, and a lunch reception at the church immediately following. Private burial to follow at Beal Memorial Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to those who helped care for Eulice in his final months. In his honor, donations can be made to First Baptist Church. Expressions of love and sympathy may be placed and viewed online at www.daviswatkins.com
