On February 21 Eunice Whitten Wonson Payne was embraced by the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, entering into her heavenly home. Eunice Whitten Wonson Payne was born December 11, 1917, the daughter of Guy Carlton Wonson and Eunice Abbie Wonson in Gloucester, MA. She was a graduate of Gloucester High school, winning the Sawyer Medal for academic excellence. She worked as a secretary for the Moody Bible Institute, where she met and married her husband, R. Stanley Payne of Freeport, Illinois. After living in Denver while Stanley completed his studies in watch making, the Payne's returned to Gloucester, where they raised their son, Paul. Eunice and Stanley moved to Pennsylvania in 1983 when they retired to live near their son, a resident of York, PA. A few years following the death her husband Stanley, Eunice moved to Manor Care, Elizabethtown. Eunice was an active member of St. Luke's Episcopal in Mt Joy and Manor Brethren in Christ Church in Mountville, Pennsylvania. She is survived by her son Paul and his wife, Elizabeth of Indianapolis as well as many nieces and nephews. Donations in lieu of flowers may be given to Manor Brethren in Christ Missions Fund. Memorial services will be held at 11am, Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at Manor Church, 530 Central Manor Rd. Lancaster, PA 17603. Arrangements are entrusted to Hetrick-Bitner Funeral Home, Harrisburg.
