Eva Chavez was born in Socorro May 14, 1949. She entered eternal life with our Lord on December 25, 2025, Christmas Day. She left this earth peacefully and was surrounded by love and lots of family. She was a devoted Wife, Mom, Nana, Great-grandma (aka “Ita”, short for Abuelita), Sister, and Auntie.
She lived for her family and loved them deeply. She was everyone’s rock and the strongest person. She was the most selfless person, she was there whenever and for whatever anyone needed. If she could help she would.
Along with her love of her family, her other love was crafting. Her crafting room shows it. She was known for her beautiful wreaths. She would participate in most of the local craft shows selling all her goods. She would spend hours in her room.
She also had a love for shopping and particularly enjoyed doing it with her granddaughter Jordyn. They would do some damage together.
But most of all she had a love for dancing. Her and Rudy would go dancing whenever they could especially when it was her favorite Al Hurricane. She also enjoyed dancing to her other favorites like Suavecito, Red Wine, and Black Pearl.
Eva had incredible faith in God and always prayed for everyone. She always gave her blessings when you left her. She always made sure to give her “cruzita” on the forehead to her grandbabies whether it was in person or on video chat. She is now our Christmas Angel and will be deeply missed.
Eva is survived by her husband Rudy Chavez of 55 years. Daughter Michelle Mintz and son Louis Chavez (Bernadette). Grandson Devon Mintz (Brianna) and Granddaughter Jordyn Mintz. Great-grandsons DeAndre and Xavier Mintz. Sisters Olga, Petra, Rosemary and Margaret. Brothers Alvin (Dena), Gary (Clara), and Anthony. Sister-in-laws Evie and Liz.
