Eva Joe Cox, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on November 6, 2023 at the age of 90 Years, 3 Months, and 21 Days. She was born on July 16, 1933 in Pocahontas, TN to the late Archie T. and Silas Dupree Barkley Young.

Eva Joe found her lifelong partner in Troy Elby Cox, and they were united in marriage on March 28, 1949. Together, they embarked on a beautiful journey that lasted for an incredible 74 years.

Throughout her life, Mrs. Cox resided in various places including Savannah, TN, Middleton, TN, Pekin, IL, and most recently Denton, TX. She was a member of the Savannah Heights church of Christ in Savannah, TN and took pleasure in spending time at the Hardin County Senior Center.

Eva Joe had a zest for life that was truly inspiring. She delighted in the simple joys such as exploring garage sales and nurturing her garden. Her skillful hands could transform fresh produce into mouthwatering canned goods and delicious meals. Whether it was engaging in card and board games or socializing with loved ones and friends, Eva Joe embraced every moment with enthusiasm. She had a unique sense of style and enjoyed dressing up with jewelry-matching hats-belts-jackets-purses and shoes; each outfit reflecting her vibrant personality. Her home was adorned with an assortment of treasures and trinkets that she collected over the years; each item holding sentimental value.

Sports played a significant role in Eva Joe's life as well. She took great pleasure in watching sports events and could always be heard cheering from the stands when her sons or grandchildren were playing. Her unwavering support meant the world to them.

Eva Joe had a warm and hospitable nature. She kept a guestbook to commemorate the company that came to visit, and she cherished the memories shared during those special times. Her home was a place of love and laughter, where family and friends felt welcome and appreciated.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Troy Elby Cox. Together, they created a remarkable legacy of love and commitment. Eva Joe also leaves behind her three sons: Vernon Cox and wife Cindi of Groveland, IL; Warren Cox and wife Suzann of Arvada, CO; Phillip Cox and wife Jeanette of Highland Village, TX; brother, Robert Young and his wife Ina of Murphysboro, IL.

Eva Joe was adored by eleven grandchildren: Elby Joe Cox, Erich Thompson, Vanessa Matthews, Spencer Cox, Monica Cox, Chase Cox, Darren Cox, Kyle Cox, Nolan Cox, Austin Cox, Mason Cox;  honorary grandchildren Amber Hook Caldwell, Haley Hook, Courtney Allen, and Cory Parker.

During her final years, Eva Joe received exceptional care from compassionate individuals who provided unwavering support. A heartfelt thank you goes to Cory Parker, Paula Gentry, Scott Birk, and Pernetha Knight for their dedication.

Mrs. Cox is now reunited with those who preceded her in death: her son Roger and daughter-in-law Valerie Cox; three brothers—William Floyd Young, Grady Alton Young, Archie Fred Young; seven sisters—Louise Kiestler, Minnie Fay Houston, Johnie Ruth Thomas, Cora Lee Busby, Edith R. Leadford, Mona Janice Young, and Vera Mae Boatman; as well as three grandchildren—Anthony Dale Cox, Lewis Wayne Cox, and Paige Joann Cox.
