Eva Marie Poche Evans, born August 7, 1947, in New Orleans, passed away on Friday, December 5, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
A graduate of Mount Carmel Academy and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, Eva dedicated 37 years of her professional life to Farm Bureau Insurance. Over the course of her long and accomplished career, she served in many roles and ultimately became the company’s first female District Sales Manager—a milestone she carried with great pride. Known for her unwavering work ethic, compassionate spirit, and warm smile, Eva touched the lives of colleagues and clients alike.
Eva loved to travel, especially cruising with her husband, Dave, to destinations near and far. The beach was her happy place, but nowhere was she happier than in the company of her family. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life. She was their willing chauffeur, tireless cheerleader, and biggest fan—present for every milestone and moment that mattered.
In retirement, Eva found deep fulfillment in serving at the Cypress Springs Mercedarian Prayer Center as a secretary and prayer partner, offering her time and gentle presence to all who crossed her path.
Eva is survived by her husband of 31 years, David T. Evans, III; her daughters, Stephanie Lanclos Mayeux and husband Lee, and Allyson Lanclos Vogt and husband Benjamin, all of Baton Rouge; and her treasured grandchildren, Landry, Margaux, and Julia Mayeux, and Shawn and Annemarie Vogt; as well as extended family members, Benjamin and Misty Evans, Shayla, Christian, Seth, Natalie and Olivia Watson, and Ashley Bell. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Lucille Brugier Poche; and her brother, Leonard C. Poche.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Woman’s Hospital Cancer Pavilion and to the physicians and nurses of the sixth floor at Baton Rouge General for the compassionate care they provided.
Eva will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for her kindness, her devotion to her family and faith, and her generous heart that was always ready to help others.
Visitation will be held December 20, 2025, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 3625 LA Highway 75 in St. Gabriel, beginning at 9:00 AM until the Memorial Mass is held at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow. Interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, Eva requested that memorial donations be made to one of the organizations dear to her heart: Cypress Springs Mercedarian Prayer Center, St. Vincent de Paul, or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
