Eva Jewel Glanton - a matriarch and an embodiment of love and faith - born on April 2, 1925, in Barbour County, Alabama, to the late Cassie Miller and Amzie Robinson, lovingly referred to as Lunk Miller. Her existence stands as a tribute to the strength and resilience inherent in the human spirit. With her steadfast faith in Jehovah as her guiding light, Eva undertook an extraordinary journey that lasted a century, during which she left an indelible mark on the lives of countless individuals through her elegance and compassion.
Affectionately referred to as "Sister", Eva was a pillar of the Lakeview community because of her steadfast belief in the significance of family and friendship. Her multifaceted roles as a friend, neighbor, and mentor were evident in her profound love for the children of the community, whom she embraced as if they were her own, thus fostering a nurturing village environment for their growth. Remarkably, Eva never spoke the word "goodbye," choosing instead to say a hopeful "good day," and she always took a moment to show her appreciation, stating, "thank God for the journey."
Eva's interests were both diverse and deeply passionate. She delighted in a range of activities including baking, gardening, fishing, crocheting, quilting, reading, solving puzzles, and engaging in her daily word searches. Her favorite television programs included wrestling and westerns, and her infectious laughter and sense of humor endeared her to many. Eva greeted everyone with a warm smile, and her home served as a sanctuary for those seeking comfort, nourishment, or a place to rest.
Eva possessed a remarkable talent for making others feel valued. Her garden was a vibrant mosaic of hues, reflecting her nurturing essence and passion for the natural world. Loved ones frequently congregated around her, attracted by her generous spirit and the tales she recounted, which were as diverse and rich as her numerous endeavors. Eva's legacy resided not only in her creations but also in the warmth and compassion she instilled in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Eva had a heart overflowing with love, which she graciously shared with her family and friends. She united in marriage with Dan Glanton, Sr., and together they embraced the arrival of six extraordinary children into their lives. Each child was distinct, contributing their own gifts and characters to the family mosaic. The Glanton residence was perpetually alive with laughter and the delightful disorder of a lively home. Eva, with her caring nature, and even the simplest of days was filled with warmth and happiness.
In spite of the sporadic challenges that life may impose, the Glanton family stood as a tightly woven unit, united by affection and shared respect. Eva's enduring legacy of kindness and generosity radiated through her offspring, who embraced her principles in their own journeys, disseminating positivity and love to everyone they encountered.
In eternal repose, she is predeceased by her beloved parents: Amzie Robinson and Cassie Miller; her devoted husband, Dan Glanton, Sr.; her treasured son, Robert Glanton; and her cherished step-daughter, Melrose Parker. On June 17, 2025, Eva Jewel Glanton gracefully concluded her century-long odyssey on this earth, bequeathing a legacy that will eternally shine in the heavens of all whom she inspired.
Her enduring legacy, a profound source of pride and joy, continues to thrive through her devoted children: Carrie Hodge, Bernice Moore, Dan (Fedora) Glanton, Jr., Jewel (Fred) Salter, and Dorothy (David) White, all residing in Dothan, Alabama; her brother, David Miller, also of Dothan, Alabama; her daughter-in-law, Latrice Glanton from Green Cove Springs, Florida; and her sister-in-law, Mattie Glanton of Shorterville, Alabama. Together with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they will perpetuate her spirit of love and familial unity. Her grandchildren - Precious (Michael) Lee from Kingsland, Georgia; Tyza (Regina) Gurley of Las Vegas, Nevada; Sean Moore of Seattle, Washington; Lynn (Arthur) Wills from White Plains, Maryland; Heather (Antonio) Johnson-Walker and Kellye Moore, both of Dothan, Alabama; Carli (Abdul) Shabazz of Green Cove Springs, Florida; Toni McCallum of Maple Shade, New Jersey; Dan Glanton, III of Allentown, Pennsylvania; Shannon Glanton of Landstuhl, Germany; Korey Glanton of East Orange, New Jersey; Sharon Parker, and Stephanie Ruffin both of Greensboro, South Carolina - will forever cherish the memories and wisdom shared by their beloved grandmother. Her sixteen exceptionally special great-grandchildren, along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbors, and friends, will continue to experience her profound influence in their lives.
