Eva Marcum

Eva Karen Marcum, 57 of Hurricane, WV, departed this life on Monday, March 4, 2024 at CAMC Memorial.
She was born Sepetember 21, 1966 in Man, WV, the daughter of the late Russell Jr. and Mennie Bryant.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three brothers, William Bryant, Wilfred "Chubby" Bryant, and Titus Gordon Bryant; one sister, Linda Sue Adams; maternal grandparents, George and Malindia Hensley; and paternal grandparents, Russell Sr. and Susan Bryant.
Eva was a 1984 Chapmanville High School graduate and a Marshall University graduate with a master's degree in education. She worked in the education field for 35 years with various roles, including teacher, vice principal, principal, director at the state board of education, and her final position as principal at Hurricane Towne Elementary. She was very passionate and a leader in her field of education and working with children.
Eva was the baby of 13 siblings, whom she loved each and every one with all of her heart. She was a light to everyone she came into contact with, which shined immensely. She enjoyed traveling to new places, especially with her children and grandchildren. She loved going to church and singing for the Lord. Her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren, which she often said were her greatest accomplishments.
Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Emily (Matt) Cook; one son, Nathaniel (Keshia) Stroud; sisters, Maria Roark, Nona Gail (Sonny) Hensley, and Brenda Bryant; brothers, Glenn Bryant, Randall (Tina) Bryant, Jerry (Lisa) Bryant, Jeffrey (Eugenia) Bryant, and Michael (Stephanie) Bryant; grandchildren, John Stroud, Carter Stroud, Bryson Henry, Colt Stroud, and Eliana Cook; father of her children, Dwayne Stroud; his parents, Sidney and Magaline Stroud; and a host of special friends, nieces, nephews, and family.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 8, 2024 from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the Freeman Funeral Home.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 9, 2024 at Mt. Era Old General Assembly Church of Jesus Christ of the First Born with Elbert Collins Jr. and Bill Lambert officiating. Burial will follow at the Bryant Cemetery in Browns Run Road, Chapmanville, West Virginia.
Pallbearers will be friends and family.
