Eva A. McCaig, 94, of Merring Road, Addison, passed away at her home on Sunday, March 16, 2025 surrounded by her beloved family.
Eva was born in the Town of Rathbone on October 26, 1930, the daughter of Lewis M. and Helen M. (Demun) Williams. She was a graduate of Addison High School.
On August 19, 1949, Eva married Ronald A. McCaig. They made their home together on the Merring Road in Rathbone where they raised their family. Ron preceded Eva in death on January 7, 2012.
As well as being a homemaker, Eva was a long-time rural mail carrier, working from the Addison and Woodhull Post Offices. Prior to being employed with the postal service, she had worked at Crawford's Store in Cameron Mills. She was a member of the Hedgesville Presbyterian Church. She loved to bake and was renowned for her delicious cinnamon rolls. Always very active, Eva was an avid walker and enjoyed square dancing.
Besides her husband Ron, Eva was predeceased by her daughter and son-in-law, Karleen and Robert McCarthy, her granddaughter, Latrisha McCaig and her brothers, Paul Williams, Glenn Williams, Merle Williams and Harold Williams.
She is survived by her children Carolyn McCaig of Addison, Donald (Michaeleen) McCaig of Addison, Ronald (Jenny) McCaig of Woodhull, Glenn McCaig (Melody Robinson) of Addison and Dennis McCaig of Knoxville, PA, 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, her sister, Arda Draper of Addison and several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be conducted at Northrup Hill Cemetery in Rathbone at the family's convenience.
Arrangements are in care of the H.P. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Woodhull, NY.
