Eva Young Davis Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Young's Funeral Home - Ferriday on Mar. 8, 2025.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Eva Lou Young Davis, who passed away on March 7, 2025, at the age of 93.
Born on August 17, 1931, in Utility, LA, Eva grew up in Jonesville, LA. She was a dedicated and loving wife to her late husband, Warnie Davis, and a devoted mother to her children Bill, Mike, Tom, Paul, and Sandra.
Eva, lovingly nicknamed "Fro" by her siblings, cousins, and childhood friends, grew up in a family filled with love, even in the midst of challenging times, such as losing her father at a young age. She loved sharing memories of her childhood and the bonds she formed during those years.
As a young wife and mother, Eva moved many times with her family. Despite frequent moves, she always found a church where she could bring her children to learn about the love of God. Eva spent many years teaching children's Sunday School, serving in VBS, singing in the choir, and contributing to her church.
Eva's hobbies and joys reflected her love of life and family. She enjoyed reading, working on puzzles, making chocolate chip cookies for family gatherings, and watching her favorite movie, Mamma Mia. She sang in the Silvertone Choir at First Baptist Church Nederland and deeply appreciated receiving letters from its members after moving to Dallas in 2014. Over the past 11 years, she found simple pleasures in visits from family, a Mocha Frappuccino, hamburgers, and Coca-Cola.
Eva is preceded in death by her parents, Wesley and Rose Young; her husband of over 64 years, Warnie Davis; her son, Michael Bruce Davis; and her siblings Jean Furr Edwards, Velda "Bell" Berry, Ann Chevalier Taylor, Dorothy "Dot" Evans, John Young, and David "Bud" Young. She is survived by her sons, Bill (wife Cathy), daughter-in-law, JoAnn (wife of Mike), Tom (wife Andrea), Paul (wife Michelene), and her daughter, Sandra (husband Shane); seven grandchildren: Wes, Megan, Alyssa (Ryan), Claire (Conner), Davis, Tyler, and Hannah; two great-grandchildren: James and Luke; and one sister, Rosemary McGowen.
Funeral services will be held at the Young Funeral Home in Jonesville, Louisiana, on Saturday, March 15, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation with the family will begin at 9:00 a.m., prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow at the Young Cemetery on John Young Road. The address for the funeral home is 2313 4th St., Hwy 84 W., Jonesville, LA 71343, (318) 757-3636.
Pallbearers will be family members. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church, Nederland, TX, in memory of Eva L. Davis.
Rest in peace, dear mother. You will forever be in our hearts and memories.
