EvaJoyce Burns, a beloved resident of Clawson, Michigan, since 1963, passed away on August 16, 2025, at Corewell Health in Troy. She was a gentle and giving woman whose radiant smile and warm spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
EvaJoyce grew up in the Troy area and fondly remembered her early school days at the local log cabin school. She worked as a secretary and buyer at Westinghouse for over a decade, where her dedication and attention to detail made her a valued colleague.
Deeply involved in her community, EvaJoyce gave her time generously as a volunteer at the Clawson Library, the Clawson Historical Museum, and the Clawson Women's Club. She was a proud founding member of the Clawson Junior Women's Club, helping shape a legacy of service that endures to this day.
EvaJoyce found joy in life's simple pleasures-gardening, knitting, sewing, and caring for her beloved cats. She and her husband, Tim, shared a passion for adventure, whether traveling to Hawaii, camping under the stars, or exploring the country in their RV. She was a loyal Detroit Red Wings and Tigers fan and had a love for the excitement of IndyCar racing.
EvaJoyce is survived by her devoted husband, Tim Burns, with whom she celebrated 34 years of marriage. She is also survived by her sons, Jeff (Shirley) Scribner, Tim Burns Jr., Scott (Shelly) Burns, and Rob Burns; her daughter-in-law, Lonnie Scribner; her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Bill Brewer, Arthur Brewer, and Jo Ann Booth. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Scribner, in 2016, and her son, Steven Scribner in 2024.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a Celebration of Life at 7:00 p.m., at Gramer Funeral Home, 705 North Main Street (Livernois between 14 & 15 Mile Roads), Clawson, Michigan 48017.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Joyce's name are appreciated to the Blair Memorial Library, 416 N. Main St., Clawson, MI 48017, a place she treasured and supported with love. To plant a beautiful memorial tree in memory of EvaJoyce, please visit our Tree Store.
