Evan Richard Denevan, age 38, of
Lander, Wyoming, was born on June 9, 1987, and tragically passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026.
Evan was born to Dan and Linda Denevan and grew up in Lander alongside his older brother Brice and younger sister Vanessa. From a young age, Evan lived life at full volume-strong, stubborn, hardworking, and completely unapologetic about who he was.
Above all else, Evan was a devoted family man. Family was not just important to him-it was his entire world. He was a devoted son, a protective brother, a loving uncle, and a loyal friend, but his greatest pride was being a father. Evan was a devoted and deeply loving father to his daughters Annabelle and Lacy, whom he adored and would do absolutely anything for. He was a loving partner to Ceci, and a proud, involved stepfather to Dixie and Cassie. Providing for his family, protecting them, and being present for them defined who he was. If someone was part of Evan's circle, they were family-no exceptions.
Evan was also a constant presence for his extended family. He was a fun, involved uncle who cherished time with his nieces and nephews and a loyal friend who would drop everything to help someone in need. He showed his love through action-by showing up, working hard, and standing by the people he cared about no matter what.
Evan is survived by his parents, Dan and Linda Denevan; his children Annabelle and Lacy; partner Ceci; stepdaughters Dixie and Cassie; brother Brice and Amanda; sister Vanessa and Stephanie; grandmother June Denevan; nieces and nephews Jennifer, Jacob, and Dany; aunts and uncles Marty and JoAnn Denevan, Scott and Sheila Whitlock, Paula Whitlock, Bart Denevan, Buck Denevan, and Bill Deal; cousins Kendra Deal, Shawna Berg, Jolene Deal, Cory Whitlock, Justin Whitlock, Dea Dawn Kobbe, Tawnie Eisle, Ace Hancock, Nick Denevan, Travis Denevan, Honey Ray Gibbons, Martin Denevan, Christine Biegert, Jimmy Denevan, Daniel Denevan, Danielle Longwell, Bradyn Denevan, and Isabella Denevan; as well as countless other cousins, relatives, and friends who were fortunate to be part of his life.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Dick Whitlock and Jim Denevan; grandmother, Sheila "Nana" Whitlock; uncle, Kal Denevan; Aunt, Cindy Deal and cousins, Ernie Denevan, Roger Denevan, and Shane Deal.
Evan wrestled in high school and proudly placed second at the state championship, a reflection of his grit, strength, and refusal to quit. Those same qualities defined his life. Evan was known as the world's hardest worker -at his best under pressure and never afraid of long, hard days that ended with a cold beer, good music, and storytelling. When Evan made up his mind, there was no changing it-it was his way or the highway.
He loved the outdoors and hated sitting around inside the house. He spent as much time as he could riding horses, hunting, fishing, camping, rock hunting, riding four-wheelers, snowmobiling and spending time on the mountain with his family. He loved summer barbecues, family gatherings, playing pool, loud laughter, dancing, music, and stories you could hear from a mile away. Evan was opinionated, fiercely loyal, and never concerned with what others thought of him. He lived one day at a time and trusted that if money ran out, he'd simply go make more-because his family would always be taken care of.
Raised Catholic, Evan had a relationship with God and lived by his own code-work hard, love harder, and always show up. He was a devoted son, a fiercely loving father, and a protective brother, roles he carried with pride and took seriously every day. He was a great partner, a loyal friend, and a man who accomplished more in his short life than many do in a lifetime.
Anyone who met Evan liked him. Anyone who loved him will miss him deeply. There is a hole that will never be filled with this loss.
If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.
