Evan Spayer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home on Dec. 2, 2025.
Evan Ross Spayer, age 36, a resident of Plainfield, IL, formerly of Flossmoor and Naperville, IL, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 30, 2025. He was born on July 14, 1989, in Chicago, IL.
Beloved son of Steven and Kimberly Spayer of Plainfield, loving brother of Ian (Brianne) Spayer of Berwyn, IL, and Kiersten (Nick) Boesso of Lisle, IL, fond uncle of Miles Spayer and Alessandra Boesso, adored grandson of the late Robert "Bob" and Marjorie "Marge" Ray and the late Emil and Beverly Spayer, dear nephew of Keith Ray, Christine (the late Robert) Tusk, Don (Sherri) Spayer and the late Greg Spayer, cousin and friend of many.
Evan was a Life Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow who carried his passion for camping into his adult life. He seemed to love the spontaneity of pulling together his camping gear, traveling to his destination, setting up camp, building a fire, and connecting with the people around him. Evan loved travelling the country, meeting new people, experiencing new things. Over the years he worked with a friend operating a food service at music festivals around the country.
Live music was another of his great joys. Whether it was an intimate local show or a packed festival, he loved the energy of a crowd brought together by sound, rhythm, and shared experience. Music lit him up from the inside, and that spark was contagious.
But more than anything, Evan will be remembered for his endlessly generous spirit. If someone needed help, he was there-readily, instinctively, without ever expecting anything in return. He had a gift for making people feel supported, seen, and valued. His kindness was not loud, but it was constant, genuine, and deeply felt.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 815 S. Washington St., Naperville at 10:00 AM followed by a celebration of Evan's life at 11:00 AM. A reception will follow the service at the church.

- Our Saviour's Lutheran Church – earmarked for the elevator project
