Kenneth Lee "Ken" Aldrich, age 83, a resident of Warrenville, IL since 2011, formerly of Columbus, OH, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at his home. He was born on September 11, 1942, in Chicago, IL.
Ken was the third son of the late Ira and Winifred (nee Egan) Aldrich and the brother of Donald "Don" (the late Celeste) Aldrich and the late Robert "Bob" Aldrich. He was loved deeply by his family, friends, and the Deaf community of which he was a proud member. He was a devoted Catholic and exemplified his love of Christ in words and actions throughout his life.
Ken was raised on the south side of Chicago and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Gallaudet University, Washington, D.C. in 1968. His career was spent teaching at the Ohio School for the Deaf where he informed and shaped the lives of hundreds of students over several decades. In 2011 he returned to the Chicagoland area to be closer to family. Ken spent the last 15 years as an active participant in the lives of his family, his church, and the Deaf community.
Ken is survived by his brother, Don, his nieces, MaryBeth (the late Michael Webster) Aldrich, Cathy Aldrich, Eileen (Bill) McShea, his great-nieces and great-nephews, Erin (Bob) Krueger, Kelly (Sean) Senf, Meghan (Chris) D'Amato, Kevin and Colleen McShea, and a great-great nephew, Grady Senf.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 9, 2025, 4:00-8:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill Street, Naperville, IL 60540.
Family and friends will meet Wednesday, December 10, 10:45 AM to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 427 W. Army Trail Rd., Bloomingdale, IL 60108, (630) 529-3045, with Fr. Ramon Sida and Fr. Joe Mulcrone officiating.
Future inurnment: Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Alsip, IL.
