EVELYN ANDREWS BUCY, 98, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025. Evelyn was born January 2, 1927, to Leo Oscar (Jake) and Mary Era Andrews in a rural area near Trinity, Texas. Mrs. Bucy graduated from West Columbia High School in 1945. She was voted Most Beautiful girl in her junior year.

She married Thomas E. Bucy in Houston on June 6, 1947. They had two children, a daughter, Deborah Bucy Smoak (Debbie) and a son, Thomas Leo Bucy (Tommy). Mrs. Bucy was preceded in death by her husband and her son. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie, of Edmond, Oklahoma and sister, Jean Carter of Brazoria.

In her early professional career, Mrs. Bucy worked for Brazos Investment Company at the time they were developing Garden Acres Subdivision in Brazoria. Later in her career, she worked at the city hall in Brazoria until her retirement.

Evelyn loved life and her family. Over her lifetime, Evelyn was blessed with many friends. During recent years, she especially appreciated the love and kindness of her friends Mary Caddou, Denise Gotcher and her neighbor, Brian Norwickie. No words can express the family's appreciation for Gordon Phillips, who simply was always there, and we will be forever grateful.

We also thank Angels Home Health in Lake Jackson and Evelyn's caregivers, Pam Thor, Jody Woods, Linda Seth, Heather McDougal and Helen Sunice whose care allowed Evelyn to remain in her home. The family also expresses our thanks Dr. Alkesh Amin and Dr. Saleem Raslan for their support and kindness as they guided Evelyn's medical care.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the SPCA of Brazoria County https://spca-brazoria.com/
