Evelyn was born in
Port Huron, MI on March 26, 1936, daughter of the late Keith and Magdalena (Forstner) Caryl. She devoted many years of her life to General Motors, where she not only built a career but made history as the first woman to complete the Journeyman Program-an accomplishment made even more remarkable by graduating with the highest scores ever achieved in the program. Her determination, intelligence, and trailblazing spirit opened doors for others and stood as a testament to her strength and perseverance. Beyond her professional achievements, Evelyn was a woman of deep creativity and faith. She had a beautiful singing voice and began sharing her gift at a young age as a member of her church choir. A talented artist, she expressed herself through painting, creating many stunning murals that will continue to be admired for years to come. She took great joy in passing these talents down to her family, leaving behind a legacy of creativity and inspiration. Evelyn also found happiness in life's simple pleasures, especially her love of going to the movie theater, where she could often be found enjoying multiple films in a single day. It was one of the many ways she embraced joy and made time for herself. Though life presented its share of challenges, Evelyn met each one with unwavering faith and grace. She stood as a pillar of strength in Christ-often in her stilettos-providing love, guidance, and unwavering support to her children and their families. She made sure her loved ones were always cared for, placing their needs above her own without hesitation. Evelyn's love, resilience, and spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. The memories she created with her family will be cherished forever, a lasting reminder of a life well lived and deeply loved.
Evelyn is survived by 3 children, Sheila Hollenback, Jeff (Sherrie) Hutchinson and Brenda (Joseph) Hurlburt; 2 daughters-in-law, Dava Hutchinson and Barbara Hutchinson; 20 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many other loving family members and dear friends. Welcoming Evelyn into Heaven with open arms are her parents, Keith and Magdalena Caryl; 7 siblings; 2 sons, Virgil Hutchinson and Gregory Hutchinson; 2 grandchildren, Aaliyah Lee and Timothy Hool.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Nurse Stephanie from The Care Team Hospice, as well as Dr. Nikki Tocco for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they provided to Evelyn and her family.
