“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” - Philippians 4:13.
Evelyn Virginia Garland Human, age 62, of Jonesborough, Tennessee, sadly passed away at her home on Sunday, June 8, 2025.
Evelyn was born into the loving home of the late George and Pansy Garland in 1963.
She was loved by many and cherished by loved ones for her devotion to her children. Evelyn had a long and challenging journey in her life, not just due to her health, but also with the challenges of raising a handicapped child. She was mostly a stay-at-home Mom that worked hard at teaching one child while learning how to meet the health challenges of another child. No matter how bad it got, she fought through it. As her journey continued, Evelyn faced battles of her own. One battle after another, while she did her best to never show weakness. She was a fighter to the end.
Those remaining to cherish her memory include: her two beloved children, John Human and Amber (Michael) Rich of Jonesborough, Tennessee; six siblings, Michael (Lisa) Garland of Johnson City, Tennessee, Rita (Rocky) Collins of Johnson City, Tennessee, Chris (and her best friend, Cheryl) Garland of Jonesborough, Tennessee; Elaine Atkinson of Tennessee, Melvin (Teena) Gardner of Spruce Pine, North Carolina, and Flossie (Jerry) Putman of Bakersville, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews that she loved and was very proud of.
She is also survived by her ex-husband John Human.
A very special “thank you” to all of those that helped and cared for Evelyn over the years as she declined in health.
The family will be having a private gathering at a later date.
