Evelyn McCarl

Evelyn Irene McCarl, age 98, went to her home in heaven to join her husband, Clifford, on June 3, 2024. The family will gather at the gravesite for a private memorial at Cedar Memorial Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Rev. Matt Selden, her Pastor from Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Ottumwa will be officiating.
Children; Dr. Elvin (Diana) McCarl of Ottumwa; Marvin (Joyce) McCarl of Villa Rica Georgia; Pamela (Bill ) Kennon of St. Louis, Missouri; Mark (Karen) McCarl of Charlotte, North Carolina; a brother, Fred (Jane) Coffey of Massachusetts. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Irene was preceded in death by her husband of 71 + years, Clifford on Jan 25th 2017, her parents, Leo, and Elsie Coffey; her in-laws, Pete and Betsy McCarl, two sisters, Imogene, Brown and Maxine Palmer and their husbands Paul And Bob, sister-in-law, Carol Coffey, niece Laura Coffey and grandson Brandon Mundt.
Irene was born August 16, 1925, on a farm near Farmington, Iowa to Leo and Elsie Coffee. Irene and Clifford married May 27, 1945. She taught school for six years in one room schools then later, after moving to Marion Iowa, she taught fourth grade students for 18 years at Bowman Woods Elementary in the Linmar district. She retired in 1991 at which time her and Clifford traveled throughout the country and reached their goal of visiting all 50 states.
