Obituary of James R McCarl

McCarl, James R.

Age 93, of Bloomington, passed away on August 22, 2025. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Jean, sister Jeri Vereschagin, brother Chuck McCarl. Survived by his sister Bonnie (Pat) McCullough, brother-in-law Alex Vereschagin, daughter Beth (Randy) Behling, Barb (Ron) Marcil, Susan McCarl, granddaughter Jessica Bowers (fiancé, Eric Barba), and his many nieces and nephews.

Jim was passionate about many things. Most important to him was his love of family and friends. He was always interested in what others were doing and he loved to tell a good story about all of those that he met along the way.

Jim's career was in insurance with focus on commercial trucking. His second "career" was with Enterprise Rent-a-Car shuttling vehicles throughout the state. He so enjoyed talking with the guys during their long drives to pick up rental cars. He made it to his goal of working until the age of 90 when he finally retired.

With his work in the trucking industry and his love of history, Jim joined the American Truck Historical Society and helped establish the Minnesota chapter. He developed many strong friendships and acquaintances through his many years of membership. He continued his love of road trips by attending numerous car and truck shows throughout his life.

Having attended Oak Grove Presbyterian church for 63 years, his church family was a significant part of his life. Jim served on many committees; and served as an Elder and Deacon. He and his wife, Jean, were youth leaders participating in many canoe trips and work retreats. He experienced so much joy and friendship being a part of his church community.

Jim was one of those rare guys that focused on the good things going on in your life and gave encouragement and support to make you feel invincible.

The Celebration of Life will be Friday September 5, 2025, at 2pm, with a visitation starting at 1pm at Oak Grove Presbyterian Church, 2200 W Old Shakopee Rd, Bloomington MN
