Everett Bird of Moundsville, WV passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at the age of 82.

He was born September 29, 1943 in Putnam County, WV the son of the late Raymond and Virginia Lambert Bird.

Everett was a kind, caring man who was passionate about exercising, in fact he was recognized by the WV Department of Highways Adopt-A-Highway Program for his daily walk of 3.3 miles from his home on Fork Ridge to McDonalds where he would pick up all debris on his way to and back, a 6.6 mile round trip.

He was a retired Control Room Supervisor for AEP, where he was past President of The Ohio Power Veterans Employee Association.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Bird and a sister, Lilian Means.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Bird; five daughters, Constance (John) Kuntupis, Lisa (Scott) Riggle, Jennifer Bell, Kimberly Bird, and Jeanette (Dave) Brown.

Everett was blessed with eleven grandchildren, Alec Smith, Morgan (Brandon) Koch, Alexis (Garrett) Klisuric, Michael (Paige) Bell, Eli (Makenna) Kuntupis, Trevor (Paige) Riggle, Serena Smith, Nikolas Brown, Alex Brown, Alyssa Bell, and Thomas Leach; and several great grandchildren.

He will be greatly missed but the love he shared will continue to live on in our memories forever.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-8pm at Grisell Funeral Home & Crematory, 400 Jefferson Avenue, Moundsville where Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 11am.with Pastor Michael Rowe officiating.

Interment in West Alexander Cemetery, West Alexander, PA.

Mr. Bird was a very nice trust worry man very smart at his work he walked quite a bit from home to town and never sat to long in one place. I worked around with Everett for many years at AEP A very smart man about the plant in general. ham sorry to hear of your loss
