Obituary
Everett Henry Christman, age 91, of Frederica DE, passed away peacefully at home June 17, 2023. He was known as "Chris" by many of his friends and relatives. Everett was born in Bronx, NY, the son of Gustave and Helen Christman.
He graduated from Cobleskill High School in NY and later on attended Delaware State College and Delaware Technical Community College studying for a teaching certificate in industrial arts. Everett served 23 years in the United States Air Force retiring at Dover Air Force Base in 1977.
Everett and his family lived in Japan, Massachusetts, and Delaware while in the military. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and assigned to the 8th Tactical Fighter Wing Squadron in Thailand from 1969-70. During that time, he was in charge of the avionic section that maintained the flight instrumentation on the F-4C + D Phantom fighter jets. The squadron name was the "Wolf Pack."
Eventually he was assigned to the 436th Avionics Maintenance Squadron at Dover Air Force Base, Delaware from 1970 to 1977 where he retired. His career there was as an Avionics instructor. The performance of his job earned him awards including the Air Force Commendation Award. He was very proud of his contributions and service to his country.
After retirement from the military, he worked as a civilian on Dover Air Force Base to modify the C-5 aircraft. Later he worked for an electronic company in sales and finally retired in 1992. He was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary when he owned a boat, then later joined Kent County Aero Modelers Club, flying radio-control aircraft. He loved fishing, DIY projects around the home, spending time with family, socializing with friends and strangers.
Everett is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Gus Christman; and his son Keith Christman.
He is survived by his wife Anna, married 67 years; his daughter Kimberly Campbell; grandsons, Robert and Stephen Campbell; great grandson, Bradley; extended family and close friends.
Funeral service with military honors, Thursday, June 22, 2023, 2pm at Delaware Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Millsboro, DE.
