Everlean Acron Peterson, age 69 years young, of Memphis, TN, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025. Born on February 4, 1956, in Leland, MS, she was the beloved daughter of Mack Acron Sr. and Carolina Virginia Acron.
A lifelong advocate for justice and a voice for the voiceless, Ms. Peterson dedicated much of her life to raising awareness about child abuse prevention in Mississippi. In the early 1990s, she worked alongside Congressman Bennie Thompson and Secretary Mike Espy to push for reform and greater protections for her children. Her work left a lasting legacy in her community and beyond.
Everlean was a devoted Christian and found great purpose in her faith and fellowship. She was known for her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to serving others. Her family and friends will remember her as a pillar of strength and compassion.
She was preceded in death by both of her parents: Mack Acron Sr. and Carolina Virginia Acron, Grandparents: Julia Winder Durking, Joe Durking Sr., Sister: Geroldine Acron Hemphill, Brothers: Eddie James Acron, Son: Dewayne Peterson. She leaves to cherish her memory 3 Daughters: Valencia Peterson, Adrienne (Claude) Johnson, LaShe' (Greg) Lance, Son: Delayne Peterson, Aunt: Ollie B. Durking, all of Memphis, TN, as well as her grandchildren and great grand-children.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at The Church of the Living God, 911 E. Third Street, Leland, Mississippi 38756. In lieu of floral arrangements, the family respectfully requests that donations be made toward Ms. Peterson's lifelong cause supporting victims of child abuse.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered support during this difficult time.
