Meredith Peterson, 89, of Merrill passed away on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at Aspirus Hospital, Merrill.
She was born in Chicago, Illinois, and later moved to Merrill after meeting her husband. Together, they owned and operated a dairy farm in the town of Pine River, where they worked side by side and built a life rooted in family and community. Meredith was devoted to her loved ones and found joy in the simple, hardworking life she created on the farm. Her grandchildren lovingly call her Gramma Funny Farm.
She worked as a CNA at North Central Health Care in the Memory Unit and Pine Crest Nursing Home. She worked as a poll worker in the township of Pine River for many years. She also worked at Brose’s Greenhouse.
Meredith loved her dogs and cats, supported The Humane Society and was a puppy mill rescuer.
She is survived by her daughter, Sue (Russ) Schreiber, sons, Scott Peterson (Cynthia Lambrecht), Daniel Peterson (Julane Schulist) and Jeff Peterson, grandchildren, Elisha (Duane) Doering, Nikki (Bud) Graveen, Nicholas Peterson, and Alexandra (Russell) O’Gorman, step-grandchildren, Jennifer Fewless, Chip Ford, Amy Ford and Kayla Hanke and great-grandchildren, Emma Graveen and Natalie, Trevor and Charlotte Doering, Olivia O’Gorman, Tabitha Peterson and Elizabeth Peterson. She is also survived by her sister, Donna McAsey and cousin, Miriam Watson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Sr and Mary (Williams) Devine, her husband, Jim (Wesley) Peterson, brother, Robert Devine Jr, sister, Pamela Devine and granddaughter, Olivia Peterson. She is also preceded by her adored pets, Bugsy, Beverly and Obie.
A private graveside service will be held.
Meredith’s family would like to thank the staff at the Merrill Aspirus Hospital for their compassionate care of their beloved mother.
