F. Clyde Yarbrough Jr.

F. Clyde Yarbrough, Jr, 76, died on May 6, 2023 from. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Deenee Gilbert Yarbrough, and his daughter, Georgia Leigh Yarbrough. His loss was completely unexpected, and the family is shocked and deeply saddened.
Clyde was born on April 9, 1947 to Evelyn McFadden Yarbrough and Franklin Clyde Yarbrough, Sr in Rock Hill, SC, and grew up on the family farm in Union County, NC. He graduated from Parkwood High School, and received degrees from Central Piedmont Community College, and from Wingate College.
Clyde was drafted to service in the US Army during the Viet Nam conflict in April, 1969. He was trained in topographical computing, and was a participating member of the Army Competition Pistol Team. He was Honorably discharged in December, 1971.
His early jobs included working with a team surveying sections of the route of I-77 through Charlotte, and other road projects. He began a position with Duke Power in April of 1973, working in various assignments at multiple locations. He rose to Supervisor in the Design Engineering Civil Drafting, continuing his association until his retirement in 2003.
After, as he put it, his retirement from a steady paycheck, Clyde took over the running and management of the family farm, a responsibility that grew ever nearer and dearer to his heart. He was a handyman extraordinaire, and always willing to help out family and friends whenever he could. For decades, he was also Trustee Chairman of Marvin United Methodist Church, and spent uncountable hours in the upkeep and repair of the facilities.
Clyde was a skilled craftsman, and enjoyed working with his hands. He made works of stained glass and wood, lathed pens, built farm structures, and completed various house renovations. His major loves were family, farm, friends, cats, and skiing. He enjoyed flight related hobbies over the years by making and flying RC airplanes, kites, and quadcopters. He enjoyed target shooting, and shooting pool. Clyde was always seeking to learn new tricks and methods to perfect his skills and techniques in all his areas of interest.
Clyde was a genuine, caring, man of integrity. He had the ability, when he chose, to be the social glue in any situation. He was a beloved friend, father, and husband. Clyde's family and friends miss, and will miss, him, more than words can say.
