Faith Lorraine Anderson

Faith Lorraine Anderson, 86, of Columbus passed away surrounded by her family on April 5, 2023 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was born in Volga, South Dakota June 26, 1936 to the late Osborne and Opal Boyd Stime. She was the oldest of four children, and grew up on the family farm in Sinai, South Dakota.
Faith graduated from Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD and taught as a kindergarten teacher in Minneapolis where she met her husband Philip Anderson who was in seminary to become a Lutheran pastor. She was a devoted partner in ministry as Phil served as a parish pastor in Wisconsin and then 25 years as a Navy chaplain. Faith had a great love of music and sang in church choirs and directed children's choirs for many years, as well as serving in many other church ministries. She was a woman of deep faith in her Lord Jesus Christ and of prayer and study of God's word. In addition to her ministries she was a devoted mother to her two sons, Mark and Tim, especially during the times of dad's naval deployments.
She is survived by her husband, Philip Anderson, of Columbus, NC; sons, Mark Anderson of Cary, NC and Timothy Anderson and wife Carolyn of Fletcher, NC; granddaughter, Sarah Anderson of Washington, D.C.; grandson, Benjamin Anderson of Fletcher, NC; brother, Mark Stime and wife, Sharon of Brookings, SD; sister Joy Nelson and husband, Randy of Minneapolis, MN along with her sister, Hope Stime of Sequim, Washington.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Mt. Pisgah Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:15 PM to 12:50 PM. A private family burial will follow the service at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
