Fanta Mae Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Liming Family Funeral Home on Dec. 27, 2025.
Fanta Mae of Indianapolis, Indiana, the white and orange tabby girl of Taylor Crowder and Quentin Bass, passed over the Rainbow Bridge on Saturday, December 20, 2025.

Fanta was adopted as a kitten from the Southside Animal Shelter during Taylor's first year of college, in 2016. Taylor described Fanta's personality as "incredibly mischievous as a young cat and standoffish, but as she got older she mellowed out and became more and more friendly to strangers. She was a very sweet cat from the start, despite her shenanigans."

Fanta loved "watching the birds from the windows-we put bird feeders right outside both places she liked to sit."

Taylor and Quentin shared that the thing they loved most was that "she was very quirky-Fanta had a lot of personality."

Taylor recalled how Fanta was an escape artist. "From the day I got her, she liked to get out. I think she liked to be chased and get a bunch of attention! Eventually she stopped doing this as often, but every once in a while she would make a run for it. Later in life I would just hold the door open for her; she would look around, realise the world was a bit bigger than she thought it was (and that I wasn't running after her), and would run right back inside."

Taylor and Quentin shared that their favorite memories of Fanta were "finding her sleeping in silly positions or places" and that "she was a very happy and playful cat."

Fanta did not love being groomed. Taylor recalled, "She was hard to brush because she wouldn't stay still, but she liked to play with the tufts of hair. I would try to use them to get her to stay in one place long enough to finish!"

Fanta did not like traveling at all. Taylor shared, "She hated the carrier and car rides. It was always a battle-she knew what the carrier meant!"

Taylor relayed, "Fanta liked toys with catnip, but she seemed to like toys on strings the most.

Her favorite "treat" was breakfast, "because she would get wet food every day! Chicken or turkey was her preference."

Fanta was also known by several sweet nicknames, including "Fanta Baby", because, according to Taylor, "She loved sitting under the Christmas tree" in the winter; "Peanut", because she was the smaller of their two cats; and "Fanta Mae", a name lovingly given to her by Grandma Kelley.

Fanta was quite independent. Taylor shared, "I think Quentin, my mother, and I were her favorite people. She would greet any of us at the door when she heard us coming."

In addition to Taylor, Quentin, and Grandma Kelley, mourning the loss of Fanta is her fur sister, Snickers.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Always & Furever in Our Hearts Pet Cremation in association with Liming Family Funeral Home, located in Shirley, Indiana. We are honored to serve the family of Fanta Mae

What a lovely story. Fanta Mae was so lucky to find a loving forever home with all of you good people. I think it is wonderful that people are writing obituaries for their beloved fur babies. It makes me think of all the special little people I have loved and cared for during my lifetime. I am sure that you will meet again on the other side.
