Zeus Phipps, the beautiful Alaskan Malamute-Husky mixed boy, crossed over the Rainbow Bridge on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
To say Zeus was special, doesn't do him justice. One look at him and you could tell he was so happy. His happiness truly radiated from him. And for a dog who had every reason in the world to be otherwise, he was the sweetest, most loving being.
Zeus came to Leslie Phipps from a background that was unknown, other than it being one that he did not deserve. Leslie saw him on Facebook through the Wicomico Humane Society in
Salisbury, MD, and in a single moment there was a strong, overwhelming feeling that they were meant for each other. She showed up the next day, got there before they even opened, and as soon as he saw her, he came running to her picking her out of a room full of people. It truly was love at first sight, so much so that the Humane Society never officially put him up for adoption, as it was clear that he had found where he belonged. They chose each other and together they shared so much love and happiness. Anyone who saw Leslie and Zeus together couldn't believe just how much Zeus cared for Leslie. With just the sound of her voice, he would start the cutest little happy dance. He deeply adored her with every bone in his very big and very fluffy body and they shared 4 beautiful years together.
Zeus, for as big as he was, will be missed for how he would hop right in your lap. He was a lover of love. He was also a very noisy boy. Growling was the way he spoke and singing was his favorite. He especially loved when Leslie would sing to him "Tomorrow is Going to Be a Better Day". He also loved digging holes and eating trash. He was a stealer of food and collector of treats. But most of all he was a lover of anything he could eat, whether it was meant to be or not, especially clothing, tater tots and the occasional brand new iPhone.
He will be deeply missed by Leslie, Chase, Genna, and Andrew, as well as his smallest best friends Dakota, Phoenix, Jude, and Gray, who will miss their "Zneus". They will forever look to the pink clouds for him and think of him whenever there is a thunderstorm. His soulmate Akira will deeply miss him. They shared a deep and loving bond. His kitty friend, Anna, will also miss slapping him whenever he walked by. She acted like she hated him, but it was all love, especially the day she got her claw stuck in his fur and he dragged her around the house with both of them in total panic. He was a once in a lifetime. There will never be another like him, but to be able to be a part of his time here has truly been a precious gift.
