Faye Sylvia Conaway was born February 27, 1947, in Kansas City, Kansas, to William Martin Conaway and Corrine Conaway. Faye was born the fourth child of ten.

Faye attended Douglass Grade School in Higginsville, Missouri. In 1955, the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where Faye then attended Woodland Elementary. She then went to Manual High School and later graduated from Central High School in 1964.

In 1964, Faye became a WAC with the United States Army. She served in the army for three years and spent her last year stationed in Vietnam. While in the Army, she performed with the USO.

Faye attended USC in Los Angeles, California, in 1970, where she studied music. Faye then moved to the San Francisco Bay Area, where she began working as a music teacher. She then returned to Kansas City in 1992, where she continued teaching music in the Kansas City School District until she retired.

If you knew Faye, you would know that she was the life of the party, always laughing and smiling. She truly enjoyed life. She loved telling stories to her nieces, nephews, and friends about her past adventures. She loved her siblings and would have a time teasing and joking around with them. Faye was very generous and always looking out for her family but had no problem telling you what to do. Faye’s heart was always motivated to teach/educate family and friends. She often enjoyed getting the family together for unity and love.

Faye was preceded in death by her mother and father; five sisters: Myrtle Conaway, Gracie Murray, Lillian Jackson (Willie), Linda Heath (Raymond), and Judith Conaway; and two brothers: John (Josefine) and Gregory (Vanessa) Conaway.

She is survived by one sister, June Copeland of Kansas City, and one brother, Keith Conaway (Gladys) of Hazelwood, Missouri. She leaves to cherish a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
