Faye Young Obituary
Faye was born January 14, 1935, at Oark, to Archie and Esther St. Clair Mayfield. She was a woman of deep and steady faith, having faithfully attended both Ridgeway Church of Christ and Alpena Church of Christ for a combined total of more than 50 years. Her faith was lived out daily through service, kindness, and a quiet strength that touched everyone who knew her. Faye had the heart of an educator, and during her years as a teacher's aide, she patiently helped countless children learn to read, taking great pride in their progress and success. At home, she found joy in tending her garden, cooking meals for those she loved, and sewing, skills she gladly shared with others. She especially treasured the time spent teaching her grandchildren how to cross stitch, creating not only handmade keepsakes but cherished memories. Above all else, Faye loved her family deeply and considered time spent with them to be her greatest blessing.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Norman E. Young; and two sons, Garry Rudder and Ronnie Bert Young.
She is survived by a son, Norman Craig Young, of Alpena; six grandchildren, Katrina (Jesse) Smith, of Celebration, Florida; Jesse (Anna) Rudder, of Osage; Andrea (Cary) Smith, of Lead Hill; Dylan (Elise) Rudder, of Kentucky; Keyla (Adrian) Aldrete, of Harrison; and Crayton Young, of Ozark, Missouri; five great-grandchildren, Aleesa Rudder, Julianne Rudder, Case Smith, Averi Smith, and Adelyn Smith; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
A memorial service in Faye's honor will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Holt Memorial Chapel, with Bro. Justin Curry officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Holt Memorial Chapel. The online obituary and guestbook are available at www.HoltChapel.com.
