Felipe Torres, 90, of Dover, passed away on September 2, 2025, at The Country Home in Morris Plains. He was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico to his parents Marcelino and Francisca Torres. When Felipe was 18 years old, he enrolled in the Puerto Rican Farm Labor Program to escape extreme poverty and was sent to work on a farm in Lancaster, PA. Later migrating to Hackettstown, NJ then taking up permanent residency in Dover, NJ.
Felipe was extremely dedicated to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Dover, New Jersey. For over 50 years, he spent his time there as a Sexton, ensuring the grounds were safe and well taken care of. When he was not at the church, he could be found listening to music and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving and devoted children, Madeline and Felipe (Pepe) and his wife Sarah, his three grandchildren Leatha, Jeffrey, and Javier, and eight great-grandchildren. He is predeceased in death by his granddaughter Rebecca.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 2:00-6:00PM, with a Funeral Service to begin at 5:00PM located at Tuttle Funeral Home, 272 Route 10, Randolph. Interment is private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church for its soup kitchen (123 E. Blackwell St., Dover, NJ 07801).
