Fereidon Hakim, affectionately known as Fred, passed away peacefully in Dallas, Texas on September 30, 2023. Born on April 8, 1952, in Shiraz, Iran, Fred was a pillar of strength, love, and adventure. His love for his family, friends, and community made him a beacon of selflessness and kindness.
Fred moved to the United States in his early twenties. He built a life for himself in Texas where he met and married his loving wife, Helene. Together, they raised three beautiful children, Paul, Shawn, and Amy. Fred was a devoted father and husband who put his family's needs above his own. His love for his family extended to his five adored grandchildren, Cyrus, Mikah, Cali, Suren, and Eli, who were the apple of his eye.
Fred was a well-respected residential and commercial builder, leaving an indelible mark on the Spring Hill area over his 40-year career. His craftsmanship was admired by many, and his work can be seen in the numerous neighborhoods and commercial buildings in and around Longview. His dedication to his work was only surpassed by his commitment to his family and friends.
Fred was a man of varied interests, with a particular love for cooking. He found joy in preparing meals for his family and friends, creating a sense of warmth and togetherness around the dinner table. He also enjoyed spending time at the lake, traveling, and exploring new places with his family. These adventures served as a testament to his adventurous spirit, and he created countless memories along the way.
Despite his many achievements and interests, Fred's primary focus was always his family. He was a loving husband, a nurturing father, and a doting grandfather. His selfless nature and immense love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him.
To quote Albert Einstein, "Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile." This sentiment perfectly encapsulates Fred's life. He was a man who lived for others, always putting their needs and happiness before his own. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he loved and those who loved him.
Fred is survived by his wife, Helene, his children, Paul (Laura) Hakim, Shawn (Negin) Hakim, and Amy (Chris) Jones, and his grandchildren, Cyrus, Mikah, Cali, Suren, and Eli. His memory will continue to inspire and guide them, reminding them of his selfless love and adventurous spirit.
A private Life Celebration reception will be held on Thursday, October 5, 2023 where family and friends will gather to celebrate and remember a life well lived.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in one of two ways:
1. Helping children in Iran.
As you all know, Dad had a soft spot for children and loved to help them all.
In honor of him and to celebrate his life, we have decided to donate to a charity that supports orphans in his home country.
Because of the sanctions, we can not donate directly. So, I will collect the funds and send them to the charity in Iran.

October 6, 2023

We bought our home (that we are still in) from Fred in 2006 and the last time my husband spoke to him was about buying another one of his homes from him. He was a great man and we have enjoyed his friendship. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. Charles and Valinda Chargois
