Fernando Flores Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 25, 2025.
Fernando Ramos Flores, born January 14th, 1957 passed away, aged 68, on August 21st, 2025. A lifelong resident of Andrews, Fernando was the second of three sons born to Daniel (1934-1999) and Nicolasa (1933-2021) Flores. He is survived-and celebrated-by younger brother Nayo (with wife Letty and sons Richard and Romey), his four children: Jey (with partner Brenna), Rachel (with husband Jamie and son Evan), November, and Brandon, and niece and nephew Irasema and Luis (from elder brother Danny [1956-1991]).

"Nano," as he was known to family and friends, graduated from Andrews High School in 1976 and had a career in the oilfield. He valued connection with family above all, with regular (often daily) phone calls and visits to the ones he loved most, including a bevy of long-time friends gathered over the years.

Fernando looked forward to football season as a lifelong superfan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, and lifelong tolerator of the Dallas Cowboys. He also loved motorcycles of all kinds, and was a regular attendee of bike rallies throughout West Texas and New Mexico. Even when age and ill health took his ability to ride, he was always ready to go to a bike or car show and talk shop. This enthusiasm for horsepower and open roads runs in the blood, something he shared with his brother Nayo, nephew Luis, and, eventually, his grandson Evan. Evan and his grandfather enjoyed a close relationship, and spent many hours together.

Per his request, Fernando's body will be cremated and interred alongside his brother and parents at the West Cemetery in Andrews. The living will honor his memory on September 6th at 10am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with food and fellowship following.
