Boulevard Funeral Home - New BedfordFernando F. Lage, 94, of Acushnet, passed away on Thursday, August 28, 2025. He was the husband for 57 years of the late Hilda (Pereira) Lage and the son of the late Dionel F. and Anna G. Lage.
He was born and raised in New Bedford and lived in Acushnet since 1970. He was a communicant of St. Gabriel the Archangel Church (formerly St. Mary's Church). He was a graduate of New Bedford High School and briefly attended the Kinyon School. He had been employed by Tibbets Engineering Corp. in the Accounting department and as Administrator of Business Services and retired in 1992 after 19 years of service. Prior to that he had been employed for 21 years as a bookkeeper by Braley's Creamery, Inc. which later became a division of the Whiting Milk Co. where he also served as Office Manager.
Mr. Lage was an Army Veteran of the Korean War having served from 1952-1954 and attaining the rank of PFC. He was a member of the American Legion Acushnet Post 265, and had been a former member of the Acushnet Company Retirees Club until it disbanded.
Survivors include his daughters; Deborah L. Cofrancesco and Judith A. Dubois; son, David S Lage and wife Patricia; 5 grandsons, Scott, Kyle, Ross, and Todd Dubois, Brian Cofrancesco and two granddaughters, Alanna Cofrancesco, Christine Savela (Lage); 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sisters Hilda Laliberte, Delores Aguiar, Alice Fernandes and brother, Alfred Gonsalves.
A visitation will be held on Monday, September 1st from 6-8pm at the Boulevard Funeral Home, 223 Ashley Blvd New Bedford. His Funeral Mass will be said on Tuesday, September 2nd at 10am at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish (formerly St. Mary's Parish of New Bedford). All are welcome to join us prior to the Funeral Mass at 9am. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.
